And my God will meet all your needs
according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
Every day God’s children face needs in our lives that are beyond our means to fill. For the Christian, however, a need beyond our means is not a reason to become anxious, to fret, to worry, or to panic. Nor is a need beyond our means justification for giving up in defeat and falling into depression and despair. We have a God who has promised to meet ALL our needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus!
Needs beyond our means, rather than being an opportunity to doubt, are invitations to trust that God will draw from his unlimited storehouse to meet the needs of those who trust in his abundant supply. As the Apostle Paul so aptly reminds us in Romans 8:32, God did not spare his own son, but gave him up for us all so that we might be spared. After making that bold statement, Paul then asks the question, “How will he not also graciously give us all other things?” God has given us the ultimate gift, will he not also give us the wrapping paper and ribbon?
Do you believe God can (and will) meet the needs of your finances? Your health and well-being? Your children? Your parents? Your church? Scriptures assures us that God’s chosen ones will never face a need for which God’s provision is not more than adequate. God’s promise of provision appears over and over again in the Scriptures. Meditate for a moment on these great and precious promises:
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence,so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him (Matthew 6:8).
Those who know your name will trust in you,for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you (Psalm 9:10).
The LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless (Psalm 84:11).
Every resource of God is available to those who believe in him and take him at
his word! No one has ever exhausted God’s supply nor suffered a shortfall when trusting the Giver of all good gifts. And so the question we must all ask ourselves is:
“Do I really believe that my God stands ready to meet my every need?”
Sadly, some Christians live as if God’s abundant resources were not available to them. They are the King’s children—beloved members of the family of God—but they live like spiritual paupers!
Today you can experience God’s bountiful provision! Yes! This is the day to trust God—and take him at his word; the day to walk in faith, not in fear. How blessed are those who believe God will do exactly as he has promised.
The will of God will never take us where the grace of God
cannot sustain us.
~~Billy Graham
A Question to Ponder: Today you can experience God’s bountiful provision! Today is the day to trust God—and take him at his word; the day to walk in faith, not in fear. Would the people close to you affirm that your life gives evidence of an unwavering belief that God will do exactly as he has promised?
A Prayer to Offer: Gracious God, you are the Giver of all good gifts, the One who fills my life with good things. You know what I need before I ask, and you assure me that you do not withhold any good thing from those who strive to live a life pleasing to you. Forgive me, Lord, for those times I fall into doubt and fear rather than conforming my understanding to the truth of your word! Forgive me for those times I compare your abundant supply to the riches of the world—and then wonder why I am not content with your generous provision. You give me my daily bread; all I need to sustain life and health and well-being in the calendar square called today. Yet my thoughts race ahead to tomorrow rather than being grateful for the good things you give me today. Father, I want to be among those who trust you and take you at your word. Today when doubt and fear threaten to erode my peace of mind, I will meditate on your great and precious promises—confident that all you promise will come to pass. Amen.
An Action Step to Take: Present your daily needs to God, and affirm that he is able to do all he has promised. Thank him in advance for supplying your every need. Receive his provision with a grateful heart—and be sure to give all the glory, honor, thanks, and praise to the Giver of all good gifts.
The people refused to enter the pleasant land,
for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them.
Psalm 106:24 (NLT)
